I Wish I Was Superman

I call my husband Superman, because he never ever gets sick.  In the entire seven years I've known him, he's gotten a 24 hour stomach bug once...and every day before and after that has been perfectly healthy which, for him, is awesome.  When we go to visit his family, he'll play with all the kids even when they are feverish and vomiting and think nothing of it.  Germs can't touch him.

I, on the other hand, am not Superman.  A few days ago, my husband said he had a little sore throat and thought it must be from the weather changes and everything blooming outside.  He was fine a few hours later.  Well, it was some kind of bug, because the next morning, I was sick and today is day four of it.  It's not enough to be sick sick, but when you've got a sore throat, a headache, and you're tired as all get out, it is just really, really annoying...especially on days like today when the weather is beautiful outside and you want to go outside and enjoy it a little bit.

I had originally planned to spend the day researching and studying at the library, but decided to stay at home instead and see if I could finally kick this thing.  I don't want to feel less than 100% when school starts back next week.  I have student conferences all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and conference days are physically and mentally taxing even when you are healthy, so I am hoping to feel better soon.

I did get to read a lot of Anna Karenina today, though.  I set a chair outside and read for a bit while the dog ran around the back yard and played with sticks, so we both got a little sun at least.  The place where I am at in the book, though, is starting to lag and I had to go back inside after a while if I didn't want to fall asleep.

Going to read some more before my husband comes home.  Maybe some of his Superman powers can rub off on me...

  1. Hope you get better soon. Not sure if Anna Karenina will give you that warm, healthy feeling though...

  2. Thanks, Simon! I don't think the book itself will give me a warm, healthy feeling, but finishing it and crossing that bad boy off the list will certainly feel good!

  3. Feel better soon, Tawnysha! Robert and I are the exact opposite of you guys, but when I do get sick, I get SICK...and it's awful. I can't imagine having to conference three days in a row while not feeling well. I hope you're able to kick this thing once and for all!

  4. That's really cool--I also sometimes call my husband Superman, but because of his uncanny ability to succeed at anything he tries. I blow off steam by writing Lois Lane poems. :)

Celia, that's a great idea...Lois Lane poems :) I'll have to try writing one.

  7. Thank you, Sandy! It is annoying, but it forces you to sit and read/write which I suppose is a good thing.
