While on a short grading break, I came across some blogs that were giving away books of poetry as part of National Poetry Month and I thought that it was a great idea! Kelli Russell Agodon started it off and a lot of other bloggers are following suit.
The giveaway goes like this...you announce two books of poetry that you will be giving away at the end of the month--absolutely free--and those who want to be entered in the drawing comment with their blog address, or if they don't have a blog, then their email address spelled out like johndoe AT gmail DOT com to avoid potential spammers...
Usually, bloggers give away one of their own books and then another poetry book of their choosing, but if you haven't published a book of poetry yet (like me), then that's okay--just give away two of your favorite books or collections of poetry.
So that is just what I am going to do...
I'm giving away two books. The first one is The Best American Poetry 2010, an amazing collection of poetry from writers such as Billy Collins, Louise Gluck, Adrienne Rich, Charles Simic, and David Shapiro. The book is brand new and is ready for whoever wants it!
The next book is The Lost Atlas of Desire, a rare collection by Jeremy Downes. This book is also new and has poems featured in journals such as The MacGuffin, Riverrun, and Penumbra.
So you all know what to do now! If you want a free book of poetry, leave a comment and I will announce the winners on May 1st!

You are in my basket for the drawing, Tawnysha, and I would be happy to be in yours.
