Oh, my goodness, sometimes, I just want to slap myself and say, "Tawnysha, you don't have ten clones of yourself running around doing work for you, so quit pretending that you do when you plan stuff!"
This past week has been crazy (which is why there haven't been any posts here lately). Writing and sending in revisions to a book review, getting everything ready for Boston, scheduling meetings with prospective UT graduate students, preparing for a conference I'll be going to in April in Oak Ridge, teaching, and more job applications. Yesterday was more teaching and active shooter training on campus (basically, what to do if there is a shooter on campus which is always a sobering topic, but the training was something that I'm glad the department sponsored).
Deadlines loom this week for formatting the dissertation and turning it in to the dissertation consultant at the graduate school and applying for more jobs. On Friday, I'm meeting a visiting poet for dinner, and Saturday is the Young Writers Institute where I'll be teaching a fiction workshop for highschoolers. A few days after that is AWP where I'll be speaking on two panels, then a few days after that is my dissertation defense! I'm panicking just writing all that, but when this whirlwind is over, I am going to breathe such a sigh of relief, my goodness.
The good news is that it is still manageable. I dedicated all day today to working on one of my AWP papers and am nearly finished already! The writing went so much quicker than I imagined (which was a wonderful surprise after how difficult the critical introduction to my dissertation was to write) and I may just be able to finish tonight! Looking back over everything that I wrote today, I don't think I'll have to do much editing, so I'll only be too happy to put that behind me and work on the next project.
